Tall Ships Race 1999 Greenock Harbour during the Tall Ships Race

 

 
Great place for sailing. The Tall Ships race visited Greenock in 1999 and is returning again in 2011. Greenock is also the main port of call for cruise ships visiting the Clyde and Glasgow.
Birthplace of steam-engine pioneer James Watt (1736-1819); legendary comedian Chic Murray (1919-85); and actor Richard 'Victor Meldrew' Wilson (1936- ).
Headquarters of Inverclyde Council. Inverclyde is the administrative district composed of the communities of Greenock, Gourock, Port Glasgow, Kilmacolm, Inverkip and Wemyss Bay.
